Whiteface

Total trip duration: 4:03:21
Distance: 7.6 miles
Hikers: Vance and Quinn
Trailwrights 72 completion count: Whiteface #28 (4,020 feet)

Today we did an out-and-back on the Blueberry Ledge Trail.  It was a chilly fall day with a mix of sun and clouds. It's amazing to see the country road below in August compared to November:

The last time we were here, we took the Dicey's Mill and Tom Wiggin trails to Whiteface.  We both felt the Blueberry Ledge Trail was a more enjoyable way to reach the summit.

About a third of the way up, we ran into some icy spots.

The Blueberry Ledge Trail was composed of a good mix of hiking terrain.  The higher we got, the better the terrain got!

Unlike the last time we hiked Whiteface, we enjoyed a number of great views today.

We had several opportunities to check out Mount Chocorua in the distance.

As we got closer to the summit, the travel over ice got trickier.  We carried our Microspikes but never ended up putting them on.

We were super-excited to reach the turn-off for the peak!

We made it and the sun was shining!

Another beautiful shot of Chocorua!

We had a terrific day on the trail.  Outside of running into a couple of backpackers on our way out, we had the mountain to ourselves. There were a few slick sections but the footing on the trail was mostly excellent for the duration of our hike.  That said, winter is surely on its way!
